As the foot drill coordinator of 2009/2010 in our school St John society, I am feeling very grateful to have this opportunity to say some words here.
Actually, I am still new in holding this pose when I know that I am going to lead our foot drill team in the foot drill competition during Hari Koko. At first, I am really blank about what is my role and I am even questioning about why I am the one who doing this job.
One of my senior answer me like that, “because you are the new foot drill coordinator after the AGM meeting, so do your best”. Ha! Now, I am really had to try my best to know and memorize all the commands.
Firstly, I have to gather enough of men power for joining the foot drill team. Thanks to the help of some AJK, I manage to gather enough of people to join the foot drill team.
Next, I have to train the members who are still new in foot drill, from the start to the end. I found out that patience is very important in teaching a person. Other than that, I am grateful because some seniors are willing to stay back to help me in training.
We only have 2 weeks time for training and the time is really not enough for us. Hence, the cooperation among team is very important in order to success in competition. I am really hope that next time those who come for foot drill training will be more discipline so that the training can be start earlier and also end earlier.
Besides, we are also facing problem with the uniform. Although the men power is enough for the foot drill, but the uniform is not enough because quite a lot of them haven’t sit for their BFA exam yet. I hope that all of them will pass in the BFA exam this year and become a qualified member.
During that day of competition, I had made a little mistake but the cooperation among the team impressed me. They all can slow down their speed but not their step in order to let me make command easier after the mistake. Finally, we manage to get second place although we do not have enough experience in this competition.
Lastly, I want to thanks all the seniors, AJK, members and my friends who helped me or participate in the foot drill competition. Thank you!
